I have to watch my poor kittens flinch every time a firework goes off. Curtains closed to minimize noise and all. Fuck fireworks. No fucking point at all, just noise and pollution.

@Gargron some people I know rent a small airbnb far out in the wild just to do good for the animals (and themselves) @Gargron I would've thought by now that Quiet Raves would've taken over but we're still a ways off. @Gargron I think cats might feel more at ease at the temple's New Year's bells in Japan. @Gargron I don't like fireworks. When I was 5 years old I saw one go off in my next door neighbours face. It was horrific. I won't go anywhere near them. @Gargron@mastodon.social Same here. 😟 Right now I've managed to move them to this room I'm in, curtains drawn shut, and a speaker on full blast with calming sounds. They're now cuddling together on a large pillow under the table. @Gargron I'm so lucky that my cats don't care. I hope it ends soon for you and them. @Eugen Rochko I've always had cats, and all of them were afraid of the fireworks.
This is my first year with mother puss and her 4 kittens. Mom is a bit nervous, but the kittens are mostly curious. They sat in the window, completely at ease, watching the fireworks here on the street corner 😲 @Gargron In case you are: We've done this since we got her so it's never been a problem though, by the time midnight hits she barely wakes up. Maybe it's less helpful if they're already scared though, I'm not an expert. @Gargron my sympathies for you and the kitties. After spending a couple of explode-y new years in a pillow fort in a closet with terrified dogs, I decided to just stay in a quiet forest for those occasions. |
@Gargron Does music help for the kittens? :/
