On mastodon.social, we've been able to see threads.net accounts for quite a while. Maybe the opposite applies only now.

AFAIK federation is not available in EU AND your instance has to also allow it.

@Gargron Do replies work both ways now as well? I read somewhere that wasn't the case before, almost encouraging users to sign up on Threads instead.
